Abbi, VA

Abbi is one of our Veterinary Assistants at Blue Cross Animal Hospital who started off as a client in 2009 and after 10 years of being a client, started working at the clinic in 2019. Her favorite thing about working at Blue Cross is seeing how much love is between the person and their pet and vice versa. It’s incredible and an honor to witness. She also has an interest in the seeing the different lab work results (such as any blood work, urine, and fecal testing) and she likes being able to send out healthy lab work “good news” to pet owners.

Outside of veterinary clinic work; Abbi is an artist, a teacher, a radio DJ and a volunteer at a punk record store collective. When she does have time off she enjoys gardening and watching movies. As far as favorite animals, she loves all the kingdoms of life. She believes protists are unsung heroes and finds is fascinating that the mycelial network allows plants to talk to each other! She is a big fan of indicator species – any species that reflects the condition of its environment – like frogs. She also loves dogs, wishing everyone could enjoy life the way they do.

At home, she currently has three doberman pinchers – Arrow, Deoxy and Cooper – and one cat named Sebastian. Abbi has had many other pets in her home life – Seti, Oppy, Kepler Celeste, Luna and Molly – she loves and misses them and thinks about them everyday.
